  • BUGFIX: On the login page, clicking **Log In** without entering an email address just reloaded the page, with no explanation. The email field is now marked with "You must enter an email address." When the email address doesn't have an account, the email field now says so, and it keeps what you typed. A wrong password was shown as a missing password; it now says "Your email address or password is incorrect." with the link to get a login link or set a password.
  • BUGFIX: Registering with an email address that already had an account could also show a "wrong password" notice left over from the login attempt. Only the "already registered" message on the email field is shown now.
  • BUGFIX: Sending an empty reply took you to your home page. You now stay on the topic, with the message "You must include a message."
  • BUGFIX: On a group's subgroup categories, adding a category without a name took you to the group's home page without saving anything or explaining why. The form now stays open with "You must enter a name." and keeps what you entered. If saving, updating, or deleting a category fails, you now return to the subgroup categories page with an error message instead of the group's home page.
  • BUGFIX: In the wiki, clicking **Add** after choosing an image in the **Add New** image dialog submitted the whole page, which cleared the page title, and the image was never inserted. **Add** now uploads the image and inserts it into the page, and the rest of the page is left alone.
  • BUGFIX: When adding or editing a calendar event, typing a time with a space before AM or PM, such as `4:15 PM`, saved it as 4:15 AM. Typed times are now read correctly, with or without the space.

  • BUGFIX: The **Sort By** menus on the Photos, album, and photo search pages, and the **New/Upload** menu on the Files page, couldn't be reached with the Tab key. Several menu items that open a dialog also couldn't be chosen from the keyboard, including **New Folder** and **Upload Files** on the Files page, **Custom Range** on the analytics and activity pages, **Delete This Revision** in the wiki, and **Copy** on the pending message pages. All of them now work from the keyboard.
  • CHANGE: On Your Groups, the badges showing your posting status in each group (**P**, **M**, **NP**, **NMM**, **MF**, and **MT**) were orange, red, or green, which could make an ordinary setting look like a warning. They are now light blue, like the **Mod** and **Owner** badges and the badges in your feed.   • CHANGE: The notes at the top of the group and member Integrations pages, and the messages shown when there is nothing to list on the Pending Messages, Drafts, Chats, Database, and Hashtags pages, were plain grey boxes. They are now the same light-blue box as your settings pages and the Followed and Muted Hashtags pages.   • BUGFIX: On the create group and create subgroup pages, choosing private messages opened a confirmation dialog that differed from the one on a group's settings page: the **Yes** button had a minus icon, and the titles and wording varied. Clicking **Yes** also submitted the form immediately, which on the create subgroup page could create the subgroup before you'd finished filling it in.   • BUGFIX: In the **Insert Images** dialog in the online editor, the **Add** button stayed greyed out after choosing a single image, so it could only be inserted by dragging it into the message. Also, image files without a file extension, such as `by DAYS copy`, could no longer be chosen or inserted. The **Add** button is now enabled as soon as you choose an image, and image files are recognized by their contents, whether or not they have an extension.   • BUGFIX: When viewing a single message, the current message number between the previous/next arrows was still shown as plain grey text, unlike the current page in the site's other page navigation, which is now highlighted in blue.   • BUGFIX: Changing a database table's structure, such as adding, editing, or deleting a column, changed the **Updated** date of every row in the table to the date of the change.   • CHANGE: Giving a moderator most or all permissions meant clicking up to 15 checkboxes one at a time on the member's page. The **Moderator Permissions** section now has **Check All** and **Uncheck All** links, so you can start from everything and remove a few, or start from nothing and add a few. The **Moderator Notifications** section also has a new **Set All To** menu that sets every moderator notification (email and web/app, email only, web/app only, or none) at once; you can still adjust individual settings afterward.   • BUGFIX: On a member's page, changing someone's role from Owner to Moderator hid the **Pending Members** notification setting even when they still had the Approve Pending Members permission. It now stays visible whenever that permission is checked.
  • CHANGE: Sub-albums were hard to tell apart from top-level photo albums. The album list in the **Move** dialog on a photo's page showed every album by its title alone, in one alphabetical list. It now shows each sub-album's full path, such as `Trips › Scotland`, listed directly under its parent album. Notifications for a new sub-album now say it is a sub-album and link to the album that contains it.   • BUGFIX: In a group's Activity log, choosing a different category (such as **Message Activity** or **Member Activity**) while an action from the **All actions** menu was selected changed the button label but kept listing the same entries. Choosing a category now shows that category's activity.   • BUGFIX: The **Insert Images** dialog in the online editor accepted any type of file, including videos. A video inserted this way could look like a working inline image in Safari, but the posted message contained a broken image that pointed to a link that stopped working once the message was sent. The dialog now accepts only images, and the site no longer inserts non-image files into the body of a message. To share a video, add it as an attachment.
  • CHANGE: Your subscription settings page now has the same **Set All To** menu at the top of the **Moderator Notifications** section as a member's page, so moderators and owners can set all of their own moderator notifications (email and web/app, email only, web/app only, or none) at once.   • BUGFIX: After reading an expanded topic, pressing the browser's Back button scrolled the page back up through the topic's messages before switching to the Topics list, instead of returning immediately.   • CHANGE: When deleting a group, subgroup, account, or wiki page, the **Delete** button could be clicked before **I understand** had been entered, or with text that didn't match (such as `I understand:` with the colon copied from the prompt). The page then reloaded without deleting anything or explaining why. The **Delete** button now stays disabled until **I understand** is entered; capitalization and extra spaces don't matter. The prompt now reads "enter **I understand** below:", which keeps the colon away from the phrase. Also, pressing Enter in the **I understand** box on the account deletion page could switch your subscriptions to HTML Digest; it now presses the **Delete** button, and only once that button is enabled. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41270
  • CHANGE: HTML digests were larger than they needed to be. Gmail cuts off any message over about 102KB and shows a "View entire message" link, and a digest could reach that size after only five or six messages. Everything after the cut was missing, including the messages that the **Topics in this digest** links jump to. Digests are now about 40% smaller, so many more messages fit before Gmail cuts them off. Digests look exactly the same as before.
  • BUGFIX: Hovering over a hashtag next to a topic's subject, on the topic and message pages, made it lose its color and show dark text, which was unreadable in dark mode. Hashtags keep their color when you hover over them or open their menu. Hashtags in topic lists also no longer change to the link color on hover. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: In your feed, hashtags in **Active Topics** were shown as link-colored text on a colored background, which was hard to read in light mode, and long hashtag names could break across lines. They are now shown as colored hashtag badges, as in the rest of the site.   • BUGFIX: On the new topic and reply forms, the **Send As Special Notice** checkbox still had the old style. It now matches the site's other checkboxes. The checkboxes in the **Add Hashtags** dialog (on the new topic, edit topic, add event, and edit pending message pages) also now have the current style, clicking a hashtag's name now checks it, and the dialog's add button now has a **+** icon.   • BUGFIX: On the Drafts, Followed Hashtags, and Muted Hashtags pages, the checkboxes still had the old style and the rows didn't alternate colors. Both now match the site's other lists.   • BUGFIX: The Follow Hashtag page was shown without the sidebar, and the Mute Hashtag page collapsed the sidebar's **Hashtags** menu. Both pages now show the sidebar with the right item selected. The **Follow** and **Mute** buttons stay disabled until you enter a hashtag, and the **Mute** button now shows the mute icon.   • BUGFIX: The Enterprise Settings page didn't highlight **Enterprise Settings** in the sidebar.

  • BUGFIX: A few badges and chips still used the old style: the **NC** (Not Confirmed) badge on a member's page, the **RI** badge in the Members page's reverification note, and the label filter chips on the subgroup members and subgroup direct-add pages. They now match the rest of the site.
  • BUGFIX: On a topic's page, the **Previous Topic** and **Next Topic** buttons looked clickable even when there was no previous or next topic, such as **Next Topic** on the newest topic, and nothing happened when you clicked them. They are greyed out again when there is nowhere to go. The **Add Event** button on the calendar, shown to members who can't add events, is greyed out again too.
  • BUGFIX: In the menus on the Files, Photos, wiki, database, analytics, activity, members, and pending message pages, the up and down arrow keys didn't move between menu items. They now do, as in the site's other menus. The wiki menu's **Add Footer** and **Add Sidebar** items are now greyed out when the page already exists.

  • CHANGE: Digest and daily summary sender names could be ambiguous when different groups used the same subgroup name. They now use the standard breadcrumb naming, such as `Beta | Main Digest` and `Beta | Main Summary`. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41233
  • BUGFIX: The Actions menu on Your Groups could open behind the top navigation bar when only a few groups were listed, hiding some options. It now opens downward by default and flips upward when needed. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41237
  • CHANGE: Pasting a plain-text URL into the online editor automatically made it clickable, which complicated editing the URL before linking it.   • CHANGE: Changed the fourth and final batch of web pages from Bootstrap 3 to Bootstrap 5: the Messages pages (topics, messages, threads, search, hashtag pages, polls, drafts, posting and editing), the mute and follow pages, subscription settings and member notices, your home page and feed, your groups list, your calendar, account settings, login, registration and two-factor pages, profiles, the help center and API documentation, and the site chrome shared by every page (header, menus, sidebars, dialogs). This is plumbing, not a redesign; the pages should look and behave as before. With this batch the whole site is on Bootstrap 5 and the old framework is gone.
  • NEW: Adding a calendar event to Google Calendar required downloading an ICS file and importing it by hand. The **Add to Calendar** button on an event's page is now a menu with two choices: **Google Calendar**, which opens Google Calendar with the event already filled in so you can review it and save it, and **Download ICS file**, which works as before. For repeating events, the Google option adds the occurrence you're viewing and the ICS file still contains the entire series. Event notification emails for events that don't repeat now include an **Add to Google Calendar** link too, and their calendar link is now labeled **Download ICS file**.   • CHANGE: Event pages now include a **Subscribe to group calendar** button for members who can subscribe, so you can follow all of a group's events, including later changes, without going back to the calendar page. The subscription dialog on both pages now includes step-by-step instructions for Google Calendar.

  • DOCS: Updates from Nina.
  • BUGFIX: Clicking an invite link while logged in failed with a "logged in as another user" error when the invitation had been sent to one of your email aliases rather than your primary address, and logging out did not help because the link logged you straight back in. Invitations sent to any of your aliases can now be accepted from the website.

  • BUGFIX: The Enterprise SAML request-signing setting advertised signed authentication requests without actually signing them, and SP metadata omitted the signing certificate. Enterprise owners can now prepare a dedicated certificate, import it into their identity provider, and explicitly enable request signing. SP metadata includes the prepared certificate and accurately reflects whether signing is enabled. Existing configurations remain unsigned until signing is explicitly enabled.
  • NEW: Enterprise SAML settings now support certificate rotation: prepare and publish a replacement alongside the current certificate, activate it after coordinating trust with the identity provider, roll back if needed, and explicitly retire the previous certificate. Settings display certificate fingerprints, expiry dates, and warnings for certificates expiring within 90 days.

  • NEW: An email message attached to a message (the message/rfc822 part Thunderbird creates when you drag a message into a compose window, or an .eml file) was shown on the website as a generic attachment that could only be downloaded. It now has an envelope icon, and clicking it opens the attached message in a viewer showing its From, Date, To and Subject headers and the body, with the .eml still available to download.   • API CHANGE: The database row write documentation incorrectly listed `csrf` as required when using API keys.   • BUGFIX: Some bounce messages from Exim mail servers showed only a generic error code instead of the delivery failure explanation. We now extract the detailed error from these messages and correctly identify mailbox-full errors as quota failures.
  • API CHANGE: The API reference now has search, endpoint summaries, clearer parameter requirements and limits, expandable response examples, and named request examples. An editable request builder generates cURL, Go, and JavaScript code, and remembers the selected language. The layout, navigation, and code formatting are also improved on phones and in dark mode.
  • API CHANGE: Corrected request examples for `/gettopics` and `/updatepoll`, and removed unsupported example parameters from `/getfeed` and `/getpoll`. The documentation now clarifies how omitted and empty values affect `/updatewebhook` and that `/deletedatabaserow` returns an empty HTTP 200 response.

  • CHANGE: Changed the third batch of web pages from Bootstrap 3 to Bootstrap 5: a group's member-facing pages — the group home page, Hashtags, Calendar, Chat, Database, Files, Photos, Wiki, Donations, Integrations, and the Slack and file sync pages — plus creating a group or subgroup. This is plumbing, not a redesign; the pages should look and behave as before. Messages and the pages outside a group are unchanged.
  • CHANGE: Dialogs on the redesigned admin pages had been slightly narrower than before the redesign. They are back to their original width.
  • BUGFIX: In the image preview on the redesigned upload pages (image columns on database rows, the group profile photo, wiki images), the previous/next arrows and the header buttons of the Detailed Preview dialog were blank. They are back.
  • BUGFIX: Opening the Slack member sync page for a group with no Slack sync set up failed with an error instead of redirecting to the sync setup page.
  • BUGFIX: On the Integrations page, the Bluesky Cross-Posting Integration was marked Active whenever the group had an email integration, whether or not it had a Bluesky one.
  • BUGFIX: Dropdown selectors on the redesigned admin pages, such as Message Moderation on the Settings page, used Bootstrap's default look: squarer corners, a different border color and a blue glow when focused, unlike the rounded, lighter-bordered style of the text boxes next to them and of the dropdowns on the other pages.   • CHANGE: The "All actions" filter on the Activity pages (the group activity log, a member's activity, and your own account's activity page) used its own older look: square corners, a darker border and a small triangle, matching no other dropdown on the site.   • CHANGE: On the Membership Defaults page, only the panel title expanded or collapsed the Default Subscription Settings and Default User Settings panels; the description text under the title did nothing, so the cursor flipped between a pointer and a text cursor as you moved across the heading. Bios and signatures are now rendered without reference to any group, fixing Preview on the Settings page, the group Profile page, the Subscription page's signature, and a member's signature on the member page.   • CHANGE: When a moderator rejected a member's pending message, the rejection notice sent to the member was not recorded in the member's email delivery history. It is now recorded there as a member notice, the same way rejected subscription notices are, and if the notice bounces, that is recorded in the member's bounce history. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41060
  • CHANGE: Posting a message with attachments totaling more than the group's maximum message size could take a minute or more to fail, because the size was only checked after the entire message had been assembled, and when it did fail, the draft was deleted along with everything in it. The size is now checked up front: the post is rejected immediately, and the draft is kept and reopened so the oversized attachments can be removed. Attachment uploads larger than the maximum message size are now also rejected at upload time, with an error stating the group's limit.
  • API CHANGE: The `/uploadattachments` endpoint now rejects uploads that exceed the maximum message size with a new `"content too large"` error, instead of accepting attachments too large to ever be posted. `/postdraft` now returns its `"post too big"` error immediately rather than after processing the entire message.
  • API NEW: The API could read group databases but not change them: `/getdatabases` and `/getdatabaserows` were the only database endpoints, so scripted changes meant exporting a CSV and manually re-importing it. Three new endpoints complete the set: `/adddatabaserow`, `/updatedatabaserow`, and `/deletedatabaserow`. Updates are partial - columns omitted from the request keep their current values - and rows are addressed by the `id` returned by `/getdatabaserows`. Column values use the same per-column field names as the website's forms (`text_<colid>`, `number_<colid>`, `date_<colid>`, and so on), documented with the new endpoints.   • API NEW: Creating a calendar event through the API never notified the group: the web's "Add Event & Invite Group" button had no API equivalent, and the `send_notice` parameter - despite its name - only controls the notice sent when the event starts. The event endpoints now accept a `send_invite` parameter (`/addevent`, `/updateevent`, `/addrepeatevent`, `/updaterepeatevent`, `/splitrepeatevent`) that posts the #cal-invite message with its ICS attachment to the group, and `/deleteevent` and `/deleterepeatevent` accept `send_cancel` to post the #cal-cancelled notice.   • BUGFIX: When a group went over its storage limit, the site freed space by deleting attachments from its oldest messages. In groups where photos or files took up most of the space, deleting every attachment still would not bring the group under its limit, so this ran every week without ever succeeding: attachments were accepted when posted and then deleted a few days later, leaving messages with missing images and no explanation for the member who posted them or for anyone reading. Messages with attachments sent to a group in that situation are now rejected when they are sent, with a bounce explaining that the group is out of space. Groups where deleting older attachments can still free enough space are unaffected.
  • BUGFIX: On the pending message pages, the previous/next message arrows next to the "1 of N" count rendered as tiny unstyled chevrons crammed against the count, instead of the normal navigation buttons.   • BUGFIX: The check that blocks executable files inside archive attachments — which Gmail and most other providers reject outright, for every recipient — decided whether an attachment was an archive from its file name. An archive renamed to a different extension (a `.zip` sent as `.zip.xxx`, with a note telling recipients to rename it back) slipped past the check, so the message was accepted and distributed, and then rejected by every provider that looked inside — half the group never received it, with no indication to the sender that anything had gone wrong. Attachments are now recognized as archives by their content, whatever the file name, including archives nested inside other archives, and such messages are returned to the sender at posting time with the usual executable-attachment notice.
  • INTERNAL: Related: an executable renamed to an innocuous extension — attached bare or placed inside an archive — still passes the name-based checks but is likewise rejected by providers that inspect content. Messages are now scanned for Windows, Linux and Mac executable content behind misleading names at posting time; detections are logged but not yet enforced while the detector's accuracy is confirmed against real traffic.
  • BUGFIX: When a member accepted or declined a calendar invitation from a group hosted on its own domain — an Enterprise group, or a group with its own subdomain — the reply their calendar program sent back automatically (Outlook's "Accepted: ..." message, for example) was rejected by our mail server, so the member received a confusing "This group does not exist" bounce and their response was never recorded on the event's RSVP list. Those replies are now processed just as they are for groups at groups.io addresses: the response is recorded and no bounce is sent.
